Program Case Study
Situation: We were contacted directly by two private individuals who suffered from an adult form of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Both were very active, informed women. One of the women had an ADHD child and the other woman’s husband suffered from the condition as well. They had both set up self-help web sites and were active in campaigning for a sustained release form of ADHD medication to become available in the U.K. An ADHD drug was available in the U.K., but the dosage required one tablet three times daily. This meant that a child would be at school at the time of the mid-day dose. A sustained release formulation meant that a child could take a tablet in the morning without the need for a dose at school.
Action: We were able to provide a new, sustained release ADHD medication to these individuals, and news of our ability to supply the sustained release formulation spread rapidly by word of mouth.
Results: Our action attracted the attention of a major pharmaceutical company who wished to pre-launch their ADHD sustained release formulation of the drug. We provided a Named Patient Program for the firm until their drug was approved in the U.K. |
